Street Preacher confronted by Police

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

A street preacher in England was told by police that it is a crime to say that homosexuality is a sin.  It’s interesting that Obama has just signed into law a bill which ads homosexuality to protected classes for “hate crimes” here in the USA — the Democrats slipped it into the Defense spending bill this week! [yes, you read that right … they put it into the Defense spending bill.  They used the lives of our sons and daughters in the military as leverage to pass their pet legislation]

Why to the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying, “Let us break their bans asunder, and cast away their cords from us. He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. Then shall He speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.”

Psalm 2: 1-5

No matter how much they legislate their immorality, no matter how much they try to revise history, no matter how much money they get, no matter how much they pour out their ideology in schools and on television, no matter how hard they try to convince us or to beat us into submission, no matter how many people they fine or send to jail for disagreeing with them, the fact is that the Bible still says that homosexuality is a sin. Sin. It always has, and it always will. It is outside of their power to change that.

It’s time to STOP the despair and hopelessness

Sunday, November 16th, 2008

I have never seen so much fear and desperation in America as I have since the election of Barack Hussein Obama as President of the United States on November 5.

I didn’t happen when Bush was elected, either time. It didn’t even happen when Bill Clinton was elected. Or Bush Senior. Or Reagan. Or Carter.

This time, there is not just the usual disappointment, but fear and despair about what has just been unleashed upon America.

There is something about this man, Obama, that strikes fear into the very heart of common citizens.

Perhaps it’s because Americans are beginning to learn important details about their President Elect that were deliberately hidden from them by the Big Media before the election.

Truth has a way of getting around. You can try to suppress it, you can silence people, you can ridicule people and try to marginalize them, you can delay and dodge, but eventually it catches up with you. When truth is being actively suppressed, it takes some time to get around, but it does get out.

The truth about Obama is now getting out. People are learning about the citizenship issues and the candidate’s blatant attempts to dodge it. People are learning about how Obama supported a ban on shotguns when he was a State Representative in Illinois. People are looking at the vast, ecstatic, hypnotized crowds that followed him on the campaign trail and seeing vivid, disconcerting similarities to other charismatic socialist leaders who have risen to power in the past.

People have seen the degrading racism fostered and encouraged by Obama – the very racism that helped elect him, compelling people with vastly disparate values to vote for him because of his skin color.

We are learning about his plans to draft our children and grandchildren into his mandatory Youth Corps. We are learning about his pre-election deal-making meetings with Hamas and the Palestinians – and his expressed desire to sit down unconditionally with the leader of Iran.

We watch in disbelief as Obama selects hyper-partisan and Clinton-era officials for his team – dashing the hopes for positive change as it becomes more and more obvious that he will simply be turning back the clock to the failed policies of a decade ago – the same policies that ground the powerhouse Reagan Economic Boom into the dry dust of greed, misguided policy, and government-power-lust by the end of the Clinton years.

As revelation after revelation enters the American consciousness, we are left numbed and wondering, “how much more is there that we just haven’t heard about yet?”

And, as a result, millions of Americans are despairing hopelessly. Millions are being overcome by the fear of what Obama will do now that he will be taking the reins of the strongest nation on earth, with untethered access to its deepest secrets, its might, and its wealth.

Gun sales are hitting record levels as people snatch up firearms, fearing an Obama assault on our right to bear arms.

The stock market – despite almost always rising after an Election Day – saw record plummets the days after Obama’s election.

I have heard people ask, “how am I going to be able to protect my children from Obama?”

I have heard more than one person talk seriously about moving out of the country before the tentacles of Obama’s power succeed in obtaining a stranglehold on our nation.

Some are openly calling him the Antichrist.

The disregard Obama has shown for the Constitution of the United States in the citizenship matter has Americans fearful that the Constitution that has protected our rights and guided this nation for more than two centuries will soon pass away.

We wonder how many fatal mistakes such an inexperienced man will make, competing in a world with merciless, cut-throat veterans of the likes of Putin, Ahmadinejad, Bin laden, and Kim Jong il.

Americans are wondering if the current economic crisis may have been brought artificially to a head at this time in order to provide a vehicle to bring a new fascist socialist leader to power – right here in the Unites States of America, this time. After all, nearly every fascist leader of the past rode to power on a wave of economic desperation.

We wonder how long it will be before Obama takes over our healthcare system. Or, how long until he succeeds in sliding America down into the mediocrity of European-style socialism. How long will it be before we are just another France or, worse yet, a Nazi-era Germany?

The realization that Barack Hussein Obama is a thoroughly “ends-justify-the-means” man has many Americans shivering at the thought of a marxist president who will resort to anything that brings him closer to his socialist goals.

Never have I seen such hopelessness, fear, anger, anxiety, and desperation in Americans. Never have I seen such widespread pessimism for what the future holds for our nation and people.

It ought not be so.

It cripples us. It prevents us from thriving, growing, and succeeding.

Whenever in history two peoples with differing ideologies have clashed, the one with hope and optimism rises up and overcomes the one filled with pessimism and despair.

We are in an epic conflict. The outcome of this conflict will determine whether the United States of America continues to be a beacon of freedom in the world, or slumps into the junk-heap of history’s failures.

On one side of this conflict is the liberal elitist left, believing that big government is the solution to all our problems, and that government should be involved in every aspect of our lives. This faction is currently lead by Barack Hussein Obama. They are filled with exuberance as the Big Media paint his slim victory as a “landslide” in an attempt to invigorate their supporters while demoralizing others. This faction has a leader and savior – their messiah.

On the other side is traditional, family-values, working America. This side appears leaderless and stunned. The trust they had in their government, in their media, in their journalists, in their schools, and – yes – even in their churches is shattered. They watch in disgust as the Republican Party, the historic champions of this group, turns to the same old left-leaning, visionless “moderates” as leaders as it attempts to reform itself. This faction sees its future, and the future of its children, being snatched from them by dishonest Big Media, inept politicians, and a socialist power structure that has just grabbed the White House. Fear for the future and despair for the present are generating anger, anxiety, and hopelessness.

If we do not change today, our nation is doomed. I’m not talking about changing our government or our neighbors. I’m talking about changing ourselves.

Throughout the ages, every time a people with hope and optimism has clashed with a people with despair and pessimism, hope has always won. The people who see a bright future move ahead and leave the pessimists in the dust of history.

“Where there is no vision, the people perish…” reads Psalm 29:18.

There is a double meaning in this important verse. In a literal sense, it means that where there is no proclamation of God’s Word, the people perish – as individuals and as a nation. However, in a symbolic sense, it tells us that if a person or people or nation has no vision for the future, nothing to grow toward, nothing to aspire to, they will die. If all we see is despair and hopelessness, if we are full of anxiety and anger, then we will fade away and be no more.

Yet the “other side,” the socialist crowd, sees a bright future for themselves, so they will thrive and overcome.

If we don’t quickly stop our angry blame-throwing, our hopeless commiserating, our dwelling on the betrayal that victimized us, then our gloomy prediction of the future will most certainly come true. There will be no alternative.

Right now, we need to lift ourselves up by our bootstraps, brush off the dust and dirt of despair, and refocus ourselves on the vision our founding fathers had for this country.

We need to begin by refocusing ourselves on God and His will for our lives. He is our Hope above all. He is the King of Kings, and the King of Presidents, that all powers answer to. He is the Ultimate Power. He is just, gracious, and merciful, and He provides us a way to live above this mess of a world.

This one fact alone, that we have hope in the living God, should wipe aside all despair, all pessimism, all wrath.

Is Obama going to introduce age-old socialist fascism to the USA? The let’s oppose it – not with emotional anger, violence, and desperation, but with our own vision of a better America.

Is Obama the Antichrist? Praise God! That would mean Jesus is coming soon and war, disease, pestilence, greed, and lust will soon be but a faded memory.

Will Obama draft our children into his Youth Corps, as Hitler indoctrinated the German youth and as Darius abducted the Jewish youth? Then let’s train our children now to love and serve God – by our example, not by our words – so that they will be Daniels, Shadrachs, Meshechs, and Abednegos. Build them into heroes for God and country instead of letting them succumb to the apathy, laziness, and desolation of popular culture.

Let there be a new generation of giants in the land. Let there be new hope. Let there even be a new, epic struggle for freedom in America so that this generation does not take freedom for granted, so that Presidential Elections will never again be cast so lightly as a gaudy episode of American Idol, with candidates as performers and Big Media as judges.

Let there be a new generation of Americans willing to give everything and anything to keep their country free.

Let a new day dawn, in which elected officials and bureaucrats alike are held accountable for every decision, every sell-out, every attempt at self-serving political positioning.

Let a new, passionate army of writers, journalists, debaters, and thinkers arise to build our own news sources and relegate the old, out-of-touch, Big Media to the fanatic fringe they serve.

Let there be a new vision of a free and vital America, rising from the ashes and dung of failed socialism, apathy, godlessness, licentiousness, and political liberalism. Accept nothing short of the liberty our founding fathers fought for.

Without this vision we are doomed to failure. With this vision, we are assured of success. That success will have a price, but we all know that freedom is never free.

We must stop worrying about what is going to happen to us and begin building the new future, full of hope, grace, and optimism.

Yes, Barack Hussein Obama is bad news for America. Very bad news. But he gives us a priceless opportunity to renew our faith and a new occasion to pick up the banners of freedom and liberty and bear them high for all the world to see.

Fling off your coverings of despair and hopelessness. Those only serve the enemy. Fill yourselves with hope and optimism. We have a great future ahead of us. Rise up and show the nation that we have a better vision, and that we relish the privilege of sacrificing and struggling for it.

Where are we going?

Saturday, October 11th, 2008

I spoke with a fellow yesterday who was set to retire this December.  After the events on Wall Street these last couple weeks, he now finds that he doesn’t have enough money to retire, but he’s already put in his date for retirement (8 months ago) so there’s no turning back, now.

Another fellow had $150,000 invested in a financial services firm, and in the space of one day he saw that go down to $10,000.

Every day I see these same stories on the news.  Along with the housing crisis — as many as 1 out of every 6 homes headed into foreclosure — skyrocketing food prices, and the ever-high oil prices, our immediate future looks grim.

What’s happening?  Where are we going from here?

I have to wonder, when I see polls that show a neophyte, inexperienced man with plans to heap unprecedented amounts of power onto the federal government, if maybe we are finally seeing God turn His back upon an unfaithful nation.

We see precedents in the Bible showing us that God sometimes brings evil and foolish leaders into power as a means of exercising His judgment upon a people who have turned their back on Him.

We certainly can’t claim that ours is a “Christian” nation anymore.  We certainly can’t claim that our hands are free of innocent blood, with millions of babies dead at the hands of our countrymen.  Sexual perversion has reached a level that exceeds that of ancient Rome — with the blessing of our government.  Churches are emptying out almost as fast as bars, prisons, and strip joints are filling up.  Violence fills our culture, from our public schools to our music to our televisions to our streets.

False prophets and Baalams rule the airwaves, promising people that their prayers will be answered if only they send money.

Even born again, saved men and women have lower standards, less commitment, and less grace and love than even the casual church-goer of a generation ago.

Our young people are lazy, ungrateful, without natural affection for their parents, siblings, and fellow mankind.

Now our fragile economy, depleted of it’s great manufacturing industries after years of sending factories overseas, is reeling under pressures from artificially high fuel prices, profit-taking by the Federal Reserve (which is an organization of private banking magnates, NOT a government entity), bad tax policy, and failed government interventions.

Last week, congress voted to borrow $700,000,000,000 in our name (that’s you and me) to bail out some large corporations and to give new powers to the privateering Federal Reserve. Almost all parties are now saying that the real bailout cost will reach well into the trillions of dollars, since the corporations “saved” last week are just the first of many to stagger, and many others will follow in the next few weeks.

One might say, “Oh, but America made it through the Great Depression and came out stronger than ever before!”  Yes, but in the 1930’s, America owned America.

Today, massive companies, pillars of our economy and defense, are being bought up for pennies on the dollar by Middle Eastern and Chinese interests.  A never-before-seen transfer of wealth has been underway over the last 2-3 years, and vast amounts of American dollars are sent to foreign oil producers, while America sits on oil reserves it is unwilling to use.  Our children are being sold into foreign slavery to save an ocean reef and an arctic tundra.

Moscow, Russia, now has more billionaires than any other city in the world. Our culture has already collapsed upon itself, leaving a black hole of putrifying filth and violence.  Our economy is crumbling faster than we can imagine.  Our government is being handed over to selfish, vain, ignorant people.

And, if Nero can burn Rome and then get everyone to believe it was the Christians’ fault, how long ’til they find a way to blame the Christians for all of America’s woes?
What is left now, but to watch God’s judgment upon America unfold?

Are we to the point of no return?  Are we in the situation of the rebellious and wayfaring people of Israel described in Jeremiah 15?

“Then said the Lord unto me, Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my mind could not be toward this people.” (v. 1)

That’s scary.

“And it shall come to pass, if they say unto thee, Whither shall we go forth?  then thou shalt tell them, Thus saith the Lord; Such as are for death, to death; and such as are for the sword, to the sword; and such as are for the famine, to the famine; and such as are for captivity, to the captivity.” (v. 2)

Is there hope for us?

“Thou hast forsaken me, saith the Lord, thou art gone backward: therefore will I stretch out my hand against thee, and destroy thee; I am weary with repenting.” (v. 6)

That’s one of the most chilling verses in the whole Bible.

Are we to the point of no return?  Is America on a one-way slide to oblivion?

I don’t know.  But, I am going to keep praying for America.  I’m going to keep praying for her children and her churches.  I am going to keep praying that her Christians rise up and seek God anew, that God’s people give themselves up to Him at a new level of surrender and service not seen in generations.I am going to keep praying that we discard our pride onto the garbage heap of sin where it belongs, and that we humble ourselves and seek God.

We are entering stressful and worrisome days.  Philippians 4:6-7 is more important now than ever.

Many will be overwhelmed by the events of the near future.  The opportunities to minister to people will be manifold, but the ministers will be few.

Let’s be ready.  Let’s prepare now for what is to come — prepare with prayer, with food stores, and with a humble spirit — so that we can minister for Him in the coming crisis.

More about Georgia

Monday, August 18th, 2008

I wrote a few days ago about what I thought was the real reason for the Russian invasion  of Georgia.  Basically, it boiled down to an illustration of the biblical principle, “for the love of money is the root of all evil.”

I have since learned that when the pipeline that runs through southern Georgia was being planned, the Russians lobbied hard to have the pipeline take a more northerly route (through Russia).  Instead, it was decided to send it through the southerly route, thus Russia lost the significant money and leverage it otherwise would have had.  It all keeps coming back to money, not principle, as the cause of the invasion.

Georgia has also had a propering economy — the best of all of the former Soviet occupied regions by some estimates — because of significant free market reforms spearheaded by the President of Georgia.  This is part of the motivation for Russia’s draconic scorched-earth military retreat.  Before withdrawing, the Russians are blowing up train bridges, destroying communications facilities, and wiping out all the infrastructure they can tape a bomb to.  Security cameras even caught Russian soldiers robbing a Georgian bank.

If the Russians thought that this invasion would intimidate other former Soviet territories and bring them more inline with Moscow, then it has severely backfired on them.  Asian and Eastern European nations formerly a part of the Soviet empire have nearly universally — and boldly — stood up and spoke defiantly against Moscow.  Poland has agreed to let the U.S. base part of it’s anti-missile system there.  Ukraine has announced that it will not renew Russia’s lease on the naval base where Russia’s Black Sea Fleet is based when it expires in 2017, and said that it will expell any ships used in the aggression against Georgia.  To top it off, Ukraine also offered a Soviet-built satellite monitoring facility to the U.S.

To be honest, there is probably a whole lot more behind these events that we know — and more than we will ever know.   There is so much that goes on behind the scenes with the powers that control and manipulate world events (and I’m not talking about nations or politcial movements) which will never come to light until Judgment Day.

I agree with atheists?

Monday, August 18th, 2008

I was shocked this afternoon to find that I agree with some atheists!

A group of atheists in Italy have sued to ban baptisms.  At first I thought, “these guys are crazy.”  On what grounds would they want to ban baptism?

I read the news article a little further and found that they were not seeking to ban all baptisms, just the baptism of infants and children.

I found myself somewhat in agreement, though not for the same reasons.  They say that it infringes upon the right to free religion for parents to have their infant or child baptized.  I say it infringes on God’s law — a much higher domain.

Now, to be clear, I certainly don’t think that this is a matter for temporal courts to decide.  There should be no law telling parents what “religious” activities they should be involved in, and what activities are suitable for children.

However, I would say that it is silly for parents to have their infants baptized, in light of what the Bible says.  The Bible very clearly gives us baptism as an ordinance for professing believers, not infants or children incapable of understanding the Gospel.  It is wicked to have a man in a dress sprinkle water on a child, then let that child grow up believing that they are a part of the Church and have been baptized because of that ceremony.

Not until someone has sought and obtained the absolution of their sins through the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross should they ever be considered as a candidate for baptism.  Before that point, it is just meaningless ceremony.

So, I do agree with these atheists that baptism of infants and children is a bad thing.  I do not agree with their reason for it being bad, and I certainly do not agree with their solution.

Here’s the news article:  Atheists abandon attempt to ban baptisms

Wars and rumors of war

Friday, August 15th, 2008

I want to say something about the Russian invasion of Georgia.

Really, these types of events are to be expected in these times, and they are not very pertinent to our ministry in Maine. But, it is pertinent in that this is the lead-up to the war that my kids will be fighting on the ground in Europe and Asia some day.

Most folks, I believe, are missing the biggest motivating factor for the Russian invasion.

Yes, Georgia is a democracy with close ties to the USA, right on the Russian border.

Yes, Putin has megalomaniac dreams of rebuilding the old Soviet Empire – sort of a Second Reich for the Russian Motherland.

Yes, Russia wants to intimidate other little states nearby to bring them into line … “or else.”

But I think that the key motivator was a lot more basic: money.

Russia is the largest energy producer in Europe. They have ample oil resources, which has been key in rebuilding the economy and military after the devastation wrought by the communists during the Soviet era.

Instability in the Middle East always works in their favor. High oil prices mean huge profits for the Russian energy industry. The recent run-up of oil prices has brought billions of dollars into their hands.

The announcement by the U.S. that off-shore drilling will resume is widely credited for the plummeting oil prices of the last two weeks. Plummeting oil prices mean plummeting profits for Russia and other oil producers.

People are sensitive about their pocket-books. Just look at our churches: preach about morality and people shout “Amen,” but preach about money and people get mad and leave.

Putin, who has been more of a gangster-crime-boss figure (and probably runs the Russian mob) in Russia than a government official, is not about to sit by and watch his pocket-book take a hit to the tune of billions of dollars. He wants oil to trend upwards, not plummet downward.

He chose Georgia for its proximity to the Middle East, its Black Sea oil terminals, and for the key pipelines that run through the southern part of the country. Putin’s ultimate hope, I believe, was to destabilize world oil markets to stop the downward trend of energy prices.

If Russia had wanted to, they could have taken the whole country within 5-6 days, while the world sat watching the Olympics and hesitated to act. But conquest is not the goal. They don’t want another costly military occupation, such was the one they have in Chechnya.

They want to create instability and doubt. Conquest would have quickly brought stability (albeit under the Russian fist), and stability would have continued to drive oil prices downward and the U.S. economy upward.

A worldly commentator once said that if you want to know the truth of a situation, you must “follow the money.” There’s a lot of truth to that.

Will we be spared?

Thursday, July 17th, 2008

Yesterday I wrote about the food shortage that is not at our doorstep, but already in the door and sitting at the kitchen table.

The smug say, “I don’t care. I’ll be raptured before it gets too bad.”

Who do we think we are? Millions of faithful Christians and their families throughout history have died in famines, persecutions, and war. Why do we think that we are immune to these things?

Because we’re American? This stiff-necked, rebellious, worldy, sin-filled nation with it’s stiff-necked, rebellious, worldy, sin-filled Christians is headed for difficulty and divine judgment unparalleled in modern times. I’m not talking about the Great Tribulation, I’m talking about old fashioned divine judgment.

Think we’re immune? Think again.

Read the Old Testament again. When Israel and Judah were judged for their infidelity and rebellion, the faithful and upright in their midst suffered loss, were carried away, died in famine and war, right along with the unjust and unfaithful. It was a national judgment.

Daniel stayed faithful, and God blessed him abundantly even in the face of loss. Ezekiel stayed faithful, and God blessed him. Others, like Jeremiah, continued to suffer hardship and persecution despite their faithfulness – but God made it up to them on the “other side”.

Are we so much better, by virtue of our nationality, than all of the just, faithful men and women who have died in famine, war, natural disaster, persecution, and hardship over the last 6,000 years? Why won’t those woes overtake us?

We’re not promised an easy life here. There is no promise that my family and I won’t starve to death in the coming famine, no matter how faithful we are. Our hope lies not in this world, but the next.

Let’s be ready, sober, and vigilant. There are things that we can do to prepare, and I do believe that God will bless the preparations of His faithful. A little preparation now will save a lot of difficulty down the road.

What does God want you to do today?

Food shortage

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

It’s been a long time since the USA has been significantly effected by any food shortage, but we are in the throes of a shortage right now that threatens to impact not only our own middle and lower classes, but populations world wide.

Is this in preparation for the “black horse” of Revelation 6? Is it just part of the trials we will experience during these “birth pangs” of the last days? Only God knows, but time will reveal it all to us.

A few months ago, flour almost doubled in price at the supermarket during one week. This was due to a wheat shortage caused mainly by farmers planting other, more profitable crops. For instance, many leading wheat producers this spring plowed under portions of their wheat crops to over plant with corn, which they can sell for ethanol production and make more money than with the wheat.

Corn itself is in short supply.  More corn growers are planting varieties suitable for ethanol manufacture and for burning as fuel in corn stoves.  In addition, thousands of acres of corn crop were devastated by the Midwest flooding this summer.

Corn, of course, is the basic ingredient in almost all livestock feeds, which means that meats will see another jump in price once (probably even before) this year’s corn harvest is in.  Demand for meat is also up, as the burgeoning middle class in China and India are adding more meats to their diet, following their Western counterparts.

Rice, the staple food for most of the world’s population, also has supply difficulties.  Because of successive years of poor harvests.  Rice imported into the USA has tripled in price since April of last year.  Some rice-producing nations in Asia have put strict limits on how much rice can be exported, in order to be sure they have enough to feed their own populations.

Couple all of these problems with the “coincidental” issues like the decline in bee populations.  Commercial apiaries haul their hives from field to field to pollinate the crops.  Because of the vast sizes of fields on the modern industrial farm, and the years of pesticide applied to those fields, there are little or no natural insect populations present to pollinate the crops.  Without pollination, there are no fruits or vegetables.

However, in the last two years the beekeepers have seen their bee populations decline by 20% to 30% each year due to a new phenomenon they call “colony collapse disorder.”  Bees simply fly off, abandoning their hive and queen, and die.  They don’t know what causes it, and it is going to take years of study and experimentation to figure it out.

The food shortage has already had some dramatic effects in other parts of the world.

A few weeks ago Fox News reported that residents in some Haitian towns are now eating what amounts to mud pies.  They are made by mixing dirt, water, some butter, and a little salt for flavor, then forming them into patties and letting them cure in the sun for a few hours.  Food prices have climbed so high in Haiti that the average working family can only afford to buy about half the food they could by last year.

There have already been food riots in some third-world cities.  You see, if you pinch someone’s gas supply, they will just get angry.  If you pinch their food supply, they get violent.

President Bush recently approved a wildly expensive food aid package targetting the world’s poorer nations, and the U.N. is scrambling for billions of more dollars.  They understand that food shortages lead to unrest, which leads to instability and war (and rumors of war…).

Even those food items that have not been impacted by shortages are rising in price.  Day by day it gets more expensive to truck vegetables and fruit from Mexico and South America because of rising gas prices.

“Good!” you might say.  “We can grow it ourselves.”  Except, we can’t.  In 1990 the State of Maine (up here where I am) was 60% more forested than it was in 1960.  This was because family farmland was being abandoned to the forest.  The younger generation lost interest in farming because food was so cheap and easy to get, so the fields that had been cleared through the hard labor and sacrifice of our ancestors were left to be consumed again by the forests from which they were carved.  It’s amazing today to be walking deep in the woods and come across the stone walls that used to mark the boundaries of farmer’s fields.

It would take years, maybe a couple decades, for the fields in this state alone to be cleared again and made suitable for farming.  Assuming gas continues to rise in price, it would also be very expensive to clear these fields using modern machinery.

The fertility of our farmland is also decreasing because of the years or chemical fertilizer, pesticide, and herbicide use.  Some farmland today can now only grow food using chemical fertilizer.  The soil is dead.  In the Midwest farm belt, where there used to be 18 inches or more of deep, rich topsoil, enabling us to become the “bread basket of the world”, there is now six or less inches of weak, emmaciated soil.

We can’t feed our own people anymore.   We no longer have that capability.

Our nation is entering a period in time that will be rivaled only by the Great Depression in severity.  Food is becoming more and more scarce and expensive.  Is is coincidence, or is it a divine judgment on our nation?

How could we think that our rebellious, sinful, worldy, self-indulgent nation, with its rebellious, sinful, worldly, self-indulgent Christians, could escape God’s judgment?

Had we stuck to the Old Paths, and been faithful to His Word, we might have seen many more generations of prosperity in this country.  But the prosperity God sent led to apathy, then  rebellion, toward Him.  Rebellion led to selfishness, then self-indulgence.  And look at where we are now.
