Faithful to the Old Paths

Saturday, July 3rd, 2010

I launched a new web site this week:

Faithful to the Old Paths

This project was born out of what I can only describe as grief at the departure from the church by somebody who got mixed up in some bizarre, modernist doctrines.  This person is loved and missed very much.  I hope that by exposing a number of false modernist doctrines — not just what this person was involved in — and debunking them using the Bible, I can help another pastor and another church avoid what our family has been through.

God told Jeremiah to tell the men and women of Judah to seek the Old Paths.  They replied that they would not walk in them — they had a “better” way.  What seems “better” to man is not always what is better to God.

In the end, people will do what they “feel” is right, despite the clear teaching of the Bible.  But, perhaps there is that one person out there who sincerely loves and wants to please God, and will heed what the Bible says.  I pray God will use this new site mightily and will provide the time resources to develop it into what it ought to be.

A Momentous Day

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

Sunday was a big day — the Church voted to create a church-planting organization!  This is a great step forward in our vision to see churches planted in rural New England towns.  We’ve had $135 given specifically toward this purpose, so we only need about $165 more … where the Lord leads, the Lord provides.  I hope to have an update on this very soon.

Audio from Fall Conference

Saturday, September 19th, 2009

We had a wonderful week of meetings at the Church! Fruit from this year’s Fall Bible Conference included: a couple surrendering to God’s will to start a nursing home ministry; a visiting couple resolving to move to Maine to be a part of the ministry here and to help with the new nursing home ministry as well as music; and a man surrendering to do God’s will, whatever it is and whatever the cost. With these decisions, I believe we are going to see significant leaps ahead in the ministry here in Maine during the coming year.

Annual Fall Conference, “A Time to Advance”

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

Join us for five evenings of old-fashioned preaching and teaching in Kingfield, Maine. In World War I, the French Field Marshal Ferdinand Foch telegraphed to Paris, “I am hard-pressed on my right. My center is failing. It is impossible to move. The situation is excellent. I attack!” He did so, and pushed the enemy back, preventing the Germans from conquering France and ultimately assuring the allies of victory in the War.

In this day of failing churches, worldly churches, shrinking attendance, and the marginalization of Jesus Christ in our society, many Christians have assumed a defeatist mentality. We must understand that the victory is already won for us, and we as Christians need to take our eyes off of circumstances and fix them on God. It’s not a time for defeatism, surrender, and retreat. Now is a time to move forward, to build new works, to spread the Gospel as it has never been spread before.

There will be preaching every evening, culminating with meetings throughout the day on Thursday.

Preaching Schedule:

Sunday Morning at 10:00 AM – Evangelist Mike Patterson

Sunday Evening at 6:30 PM – Pastor Ron Meldrum, Evangelist Mike Patterson

Monday at 6:30 PM – Russell Williams; Evangelist Mike Patterson

Tuesday at 6:30 PM – Evangelist Clarence Hafelin; Evangelist Mike Patterson

Wednesday at 6:30 PM – Pastor Ron Meldrum; Evangelist Mike Patterson

Thursday at 10:00 AM – Ladies’ Fellowship; Jenny Patterson

Thursday at 1:30 PM – “Why we use the King James Bible,” a presentation by Pastor Ron Meldrum documenting the history of the Bible and the importance of having a preserved, inspired Word of God for Christians today.

Thursday at 3:00 PM – Dr. Paul McLaughlin, Director, Hope Haven Gospel Mission

Thursday at 4:00 PM – Pastor David Vought, Cornerstone Baptist Church, Madison.

Thursday at 6:30 PM – Evangelist Clarence Hafelin; Evangelist Mike Patterson

Exciting News

Monday, June 1st, 2009

Thank you for your continued prayer!  Things are moving quickly here and I wanted to convey some exciting news.

The exciting news is that we now have our first family for the new church in North Anson, Maine, and we have a good lead on a building to meet in, right in the middle of town!  I should know by the end of the week if we are able to meet there.  It’s an ideal location near the convergence of Routes 16, 234, 201, and 8.

This church plant is designed to reach the towns of New Portland, Embden, North Anson, and the western part of Solon (4,000-5,000 population in all).  Currently there is no Baptist church in any of these communities.

I am continuing to pastor the church in Kingfield.  North Anson services will be Sunday afternoon or evening.  Providing we are able to secure a meeting place, church services will start this month!

Please continue to pray about our financial support.  Everything else is falling into place, so I know that God will cause the finances to fall into place, too.
